NEWS REVIEW:

Royal Montrose Golf Club was founded on 1st January 1810 as Montrose Golf Club, and is reputed to be the 9th oldest golf club in the world.

In 1845 Prince Albert bestowed his Royal Patronage on the Club, and the name was changed to the Royal Albert Golf Club.

In 1986 the Royal Albert merged with the Victoria Golf Club to form the Royal Montrose Golf Club.  We are honoured to have HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, as our current patron.

Members of the Royal Montrose Golf Club are looking forward with anticipation to celebrating our 200th Anniversary in the year 2010.

Montrose Golf Links

Golf has been recorded as having been played over Montrose Links since 1562 and it is reputed to be the 5th oldest golf course in the world.

Royal Montrose is one of three Clubs blessed with having the choice of two courses to play, the shorter Broomfield course, and the championship Medal course.

The Medal course is set out as a traditional Scottish links upon which you will play alongside Montrose's magnificent long sandy beach.

Montrose Links has enjoyed the honour of hosting several high-profile events including the Final Qualifying Competition for the Open when held at nearby Carnoustie Golf Course in 1999 and 2007.
