WELCOME to Royal Montrose Golf Club, founded on 1st January 1810 as the Montrose Golf Club, and reputed to be the 9th oldest golf club in the world. In 1845 Prince Albert bestowed his Royal Patronage on the Club, and the name was changed to the Royal Albert Golf Club. In 1986 the Royal Albert merged with the Victoria Golf Club to form the Royal Montrose Golf Club. We are honoured to have HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, as our current patron. Royal Montrose is one of three Clubs blessed with having the choice of two courses to play, the shorter Broomfield course, and the championship Medal course. The Medal course is set out as a traditional Scottish links upon which you will play alongside Montrose's magnificent long sandy beach. Montrose Links has enjoyed the honour of hosting several high-profile events including the Final Qualifying Competition for The Open held at nearby Carnoustie in 1999 and 2007. |
