WELCOME to Royal Montrose Golf Club,  founded on 1st January 1810 as the Montrose Golf Club, and reputed to be the 9th oldest golf club in the world.

In 1845 Prince Albert bestowed his Royal Patronage on the Club, and the name was changed to the Royal Albert Golf Club.

In 1986 the Royal Albert merged with the Victoria Golf Club to form the Royal Montrose Golf Club.  We are honoured to have HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York, as our current patron.

MONTROSE GOLF LINKS

Golf has been recorded as having been played over Montrose Links since 1562 and it is reputed to be the 5th oldest golf course in the world.  Montrose Golf Links celebrated it's 450th Birthday in 2012.

ROYAL MONTROSE is one of three Clubs blessed with having the choice of two courses to play, the Montrose Championship Medal course or the shorter Broomfield course.

The Medal course is set out as a traditional Scottish links upon which you will play alongside Montrose's magnificent long sandy beach.

Montrose Championship Medal course has enjoyed the honour of hosting several high-profile events over the last 150 years including the Scottish Professionals Championship, the Scottish Universities finals and the Final Qualifying Competition for The Opens held at nearby Carnoustie in 1999 and 2007.
