Launch of new 450 yard hole
|
Representatives of
Montrose Golf Links and the three Montrose golf clubs will meet on the
11th tee to launch the new 450 yard hole.

Year of Celebration
Launch Day and
Tartan Day
|
A lone piper in traditional
Scottish attire will welcome all visitors to the opening ceremony and also
the Tartan Day competitors. Alan Crow (Chairman of Montrose Golf Links
Limited) will give a formal welcome to all present and an introduction
regarding the launch of the Year of Celebration. Jason Boyd (PGA
Professional attached to Montrose Golf Links Limited) will arrives on the
Medal Course 1st tee together with a Junior golfer, both dressed in period costume from
1562. After initial coaching by Jason, they will then play the 1st hole together. After this, the Tartan Day competitors
will commence their
round of golf.

7th April |
Magic 3 Competition
|
All entrants to MGLL or Montrose golf club summer
medal competitions who obtain a 3 or net 3 are automatically entered
into a competition to be held on the last Sunday of September.
Information will be collated by pro shop. Players must inform the pro
when they come off the course.

|
Carnoustie Country Classic Tournament
|
Golfers from all corners of the globe descend on
Carnoustie Country for this annual golfing/social extravaganza, this
includes a round of golf for all competitors (spread over the 4 days of
the Tournament) on the historic Montrose Links, along with rounds at
Carnoustie, Monifieth and Panmure.

Weekend of Celebration
|
A Civic Reception hosted by the provost and
invitations to Office bearers of golf clubs
|

30th June
|
Day 1
|
Approximately 250 golfers will arrive at Montrose
for a day of
golfing competitions (prizes in all categories – Gents, Ladies,
Seniors and Juniors) and healthy social interaction.
A formal dinner will also take place on this evening, with
entertainment, celebrity guest speaker(s) and a charity auction taking
place.

1st July
|
Day 2
|
Weekend of Celebration golfing events continue with
another 200 golfers taking to the course. A final presentation of
prizes will take place on completion of play.

July
|
Junior Open Day
|
Eight Competitions in varying categories, catering
for all ages and abilities of Junior golfers taking part on the day,
utilising our Medal and Broomfield Courses, together with the
Pitch & Putt Course and the Putting Green. It is hoped to attract many
Junior golfers from all over Scotland and that this will become an
annual event as a true legacy of the 2012 Year of Celebration.

'45 Commando' |
Forty five men from '45 Commando' will play a round of golf over the
Medal course. |

21st
July
|
Pro-Am Tournament
|
An opportunity for golfers to experience playing in
the company of a Tartan Tour PGA Professional and for spectators to
watch these talented professional sportsmen in action.

23-27th July
|
Open Week
|
Around 300 golfers – Gents, Ladies and Juniors,
will compete over five days aiming to be the champion golfer in their own
respective competitions.
|
|
6th October
|
Open Tri-Am Tournament
|
The normal end of season event for our Medal Course,
and, for 2012, combined with the closing ceremony for the Year of
Celebration. It is hoped to have a famous golfer or celebrity from the
world of entertainment as our guest of honour at the closing ceremony.
